Egbe Omo Yoruba North America (EOYNA) 2024 Convention: Uniting Youth Through Culture and Knowledge
The electrifying annual Egbe Omo Yoruba North American Convention was hosted in Vancouver, British Columbia from August 8th — 11th 2024. The convention brought together attendees to celebrate the Yoruba culture, empower the youth, and foster community connections. This event was a vibrant showcase of talent, learning, and unity, organized with the support of FFBC.

Youth Pageant and Cultural Celebration
August 9th kicked off with a dynamic youth pageant, where several talented youths took to the stage to present their skills and connect with their cultural heritage. The pageant was a highlight as participants showcased their talents in areas such as fashion design, artistic presentation, and personality & poise. The energy in the room was palpable as the audience cheered on the contestants, celebrating their creativity and dedication.
Delight Ajayi shared her thoughts on the pageant, stating, “It was incredible to see so many young people confidently expressing themselves and embracing their culture. The support from the community was exquisitely overwhelming.”
Learning Sessions and Banquet
The afternoon of August 10th was focused on learning and personal development. Attendees had the opportunity to participate in various presentations and workshops, covering topics such as career development and leveraging personal passions. These sessions provided valuable insights and practical knowledge, particularly for the youth in attendance.
One of the standout sessions was “Turning Passion into Profit,” led by Jeun Soke. This presentation delved into how to transform personal passions into successful career opportunities, providing valuable insights on navigating resources, such as scholarships, and practical advice for future success. It left many attendees inspired and eager to apply what they had learned.
In the evening of August 10th, the convention concluded with a grand banquet, where attendees gathered to enjoy a delicious array of cultural dishes, including fried rice, egusi soup, puff puff, and much more. The banquet was not only a culinary delight but also a chance to reflect on the experiences of the past few days and forge new connections.
“The banquet was the perfect way to end the convention,” Delight Ajayi expressed. “The food was delectable and it was wonderful to see everyone come together in such a celebratory atmosphere.”
A Successful Event with Lasting Impact
Overall, the Egbe Omo Yoruba North American convention was a resounding success, leaving attendees with new perspectives, skills, and connections.
